Hip Hop EMass Celebration

Want to experience a different way of worshiping God? Join us for the the Hip Hop Emass on Sunday, May 7th. The Hip Hop Team from Trinity Episcopal Church in the Bronx, NY will be visiting Charlotte to host an outdoor service in the street near Trinity Episcopal School. The service will be rooted in the Episcopal Eucharist and reinterpreted through the language and culture of Hip Hop and spoken word. Kurtis Blow, Founding Musical Director, will be the preacher and D.J., and Bishop Gloster will celebrate the Eucharist. A crew from MTV will be there to film the event which begins at 5:30 p.m. If you´d like to go, sign up in the youth room, then meet at Saint Patrick´s at 4:00 p.m. Bring $10 with you to make an offering at the service, and in case we stop for something to eat. We´ll be back at the church by 8 p.m. A more detailed history of HipHopEmass can be found at www.hiphopemass.org.

Youth Lake Party

On Sunday, May 21st, instead of our regular meeting, we will leave after church to travel to Remy and Kirsten Hoffman´s house for a Lake Party, and return to church by 4 p.m. Bring your bathing suit, a towel, sunscreen, and a life vest if you have one. If your family has a boat, we´d love for them to bring that too. Please contact Gretel Howell (she is listed in our church directory) for directions to her house by water. Lunch will be provided.

Summer Youth Mission Trip

This summer, all rising 9th-12th graders are encouraged to participate in our youth mission trip. From July 30th - Aug 5th, we will be traveling to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to serve the parishioners of Christ Episcopal Church. Their church building was completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and of 149 families, only 3 have homes that are livable. The cost of the trip is $200. Scholarship money is available through Pam. Please sign up and pay a deposit of $75.00 by May 15th if you´d like to come.

Episcopal Outreach Camp for Middle School Youth

The Episcopal Churches of the Charlotte area will host an outreach camp this summer for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. The camp will take place on July 9th - 12th. This is a great opportunity to interact with youth from other Episcopal churches while serving others in our surrounding community. The registration fee for this local mission experience is $85.00 per person. This includes meals, housing at St. Peter´s Episcopal Church in Charlotte, evening activities, and a t-shirt. Space is limited this year, so please register as soon as possible. (The deadline is June 1st.) Registration forms are available in the youth room. Please contact Pam Hatley at 664-3942 if you have any questions or need scholarship money.
