Remember, as a community of faith, every member of Saint Patrick's is in essence, a member of the Newcomers Team. Just as the Eucharist brings us into fellowship with Christ, every time we greet and meet new folks, we are given the opportunity to express Christ's love and to welcome fellow seekers into our fold. All are welcome to attend our monthly meetings to learn more about our ministries and ways you can contribute.

Sunday Greeters

The Newcomers' Ministry's work is never done! We greet new and returning members each week before our weekly Sunday services and Eucharist. New members, after filling out an information sheet, are presented with a loaf of homemade bread, a name tag, a visitors' packet with information about our faith community, receive a handwritten note the next week, and a personal phone call one month later. This ministry has no monthly meetings and greeters serve on a rotating basis.

Newcomer's Café

Newcomers' Café is a special Sunday School for newcomers that meets on four consecutive Sundays. Newcomers are presented with an overall view of the Episcopal Church and of Saint Patrick's. Sessions are scheduled as needed and currently occur about every three to five months. Volunteers are needed to help prepare (which includes making coffee and setting up tables) and cleanup afterwards.

Upon "graduation", a Newcomers' Party is held in honor of our new members and provides them an opportunity to get better acquainted with other members of our faith community. In addition, each month, Passages will introduce a new member to the community through pictures and a brief biography.

Bread Ministry

Our Bread Ministry ensures a loaf of homemade bread is given to Newcomers on their first visit. It is another way of saying "welcome" and serves as a reminder that as we have been nourished by the heavenly food, we are to offer hospitality to others in Christ's name. This ministry needs Bread Bakers on a rotating basis, a couple of times during the year, to bake bread to have on-hand each Sunday.
